Leslie Canham CDA, RDA

Leslie Canham, a Certified and Registered Dental Assistant, brings over 50 years of experience in dentistry to her role as an educator and trainer. After decades of clinical experience, she shifted her focus to continuing education, specializing in OSHA compliance for dental offices. Her expertise quickly gained national recognition, with her seminars on OSHA, Infection Control, HIPAA, and the Dental Practice Act becoming some of the most sought-after in the dental community.

1. Lesson 1, What is OSHA, Training Requirements, and Citations for Dentistry
Lesson 1 familiarizes you with OSHA regulations and standards. You’ll also learn the basic elements of a bloodborne pathogen program, including the risk from bloodborne pathogens, and the protections you should take to avoid exposure.

2. Lesson 2, Exposure Control Plans, PPE, and Immunizations
Lesson 2 explores deeper into an exposure control plan, and how to manage an exposure incident. It covers who in the practice may have the potential for exposure and the personal protective equipment worn to minimize risk of exposure. This lesson also discusses the importance of the Hepatitis B vaccination, as well as reviewing the steps that should be taken in case exposure occurs.

3. Lesson 3, Complying with the Hazard Communication Standard, Office Safety, and the Required Record Keeping Forms
Lesson 3 will walk you through the four simple steps to help you comply with the hazard communication standard, and you’ll learn to recognize signs, symbols, and labels for hazardous materials in the workplace. Next, you’ll learn about the various plans in your OSHA manual, including topics like injury and illness prevention, as well as fire, emergency, and general office safety plans, and where to post the required OSHA posters.
